Welcome
Thank you for dropping in on my blog. I initially considered blogging about my experiences in the classroom sometime during my sophomore or junior year in college when I was simply an aspiring student–teacher. Since then, I have grown exponentially—both personally and professionally—due to my increased time in the classroom, hours pouring over professional literature, and seemingly endless small moments reflecting on everything that I have gone through so far—for better and for worse.
While this blog is a natural compliment and extension to my professional portfolio, but it is much more than that in my opinion. Most people assume that I am an extrovert due to my looming physical presence, but the majority of my peers will tell you that I am more of an introvert. While my actions on the lacrosse and football field are comparable to a politician’s charisma, I prefer to observe and absorb my surroundings whenever possible. Thus, I am keeping this blog as a means to convey my insight and commentary on a variety of interesting topics and controversial issues that are relevant to the professional and practical realms of education.

About Andrew
I grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where I attended Cranbrook for the entirety of my primary and secondary years. I graduated in 2008 and decided to pursue my passion for education at Albion College. In addition to my academic endeavors, I met with perspective families and spoke of my Albion experience as a tour guide between my classes, and I spent my weeknights helping first-year students with their time management and study habit skills as an academic mentor. Aside from my hours on the clock, I also helped establish Albion’s varsity lacrosse program in its inaugural season in 2010, which left me with just enough time to form a wealth of unforgettable memories as a brother of Delta Tau Delta.
Back on the home front, I was very fortunate to have two lifelong educators by my side throughout my childhood. My mother & father have devoted over 60 years of their lives to making a difference in the classroom, which supports my belief that teaching flows through my veins. While my parents interact with numerous children each day, it makes sense that I am an only child. While I do not have any biological siblings, my Australian Shepherd, Duggan, essentially fits the bill. After a solid afternoon outside playing fetch with Duggan, I tend to settle in and relax while watching quick-witted shows such as House of Cards and Law & Order to unwind and relax.
